LUCILLE LONDON.png

Dating to circa 1890–1910 (Late Victorian to Edwardian era), this beautifully constructed antique 18ct gold fancy trombone chain, showcases a striking combination of elongated trombone/double fetter links interspersed with decorative knot links. This style of chain was favoured in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods for its architectural elegance, tactile weight, and luxurious presence when worn.

Every link is stamped with a crown and ‘18’, confirming solid 18ct gold throughout - a wonderful hallmark of quality seen on superior English chains of this era. The chain is finished with an original 18ct gold dog clip, stamped with ‘18’ and crown, along with the maker’s mark B&S. The dog clip measures a generous 18.5mm, offering both visual impact and excellent security.

The trombone links measure approximately 17mm x 3mm, with ornate central sections that create a satisfyingly chunky 4mm thickness and a beautifully four-dimensional look when worn. The alternating knot links add texture and fluidity, giving the chain movement and depth - equally stunning worn alone or layered.

Very good antique condition overall. A few of the trombone bars and internal sections show very slight, age-appropriate misshaping from over a century of wear and love. These are only visible under close inspection and are not noticeable when worn. They do not detract from the strength, security, or beauty of the chain in any way. Otherwise, the piece remains in excellent antique condition.

A superb, wearable antique chain with wonderful presence, craftsmanship, and integrity - a true heirloom piece from the golden age of English jewellery.
